iFi Audio RME

iFi Audio is the sister-brand of Abbingdon Music Research (AMR) and is headquartered in Southport, UK. The two brands respectively design and manufacture portable, desktop and lifestyle audio products and high-end hi-fi components. Combined in-house hardware and software development teams and a 'music first' approach enable iFi and AMR to create advanced audio products that deliver new levels of design, functionality and performance at their respective price points. Since iFi's formation in 2012, its products have earned many awards around the world, helping it to become one of the fastest-growing brands in its field.

RME was founded in 1996 in Germany by Ralf Männel and Matthias Carstens.

Matthias got his start in the audio world by training as an electrical engineer, playing drums, working in various music stores, and becoming proficient at electronic repair. As Matthias was working with audio equipment, Raf presented a project in ELRAD, a German magazine for electronics and technical applied computing. Ralf’s concept was an Interface, Level Meter, Error Analyzer, measuring and long term test system. Matthias thought the project had promise, contacted Männel and the two decided to work together, thus creating RME. Today, RME consists of a German team of developers with a robust vision of creating innovative, user friendly, and high-quality digital audio solutions.
