Description
The Final A10000 In Ear Monitors feature a diamond diaphragm. It's excellent bending rigidity greatly contributed to the realization of the "ultra-low distortion DU" that we were aiming for. When observed with a laser displacement meter, even a hard metal diaphragm deforms in various directions, causing distortion, but in the case of diamond, its bending rigidity means that the displacement is extremely small, suppressing the noise generated on the diaphragm surface. In particular, its excellent bending rigidity greatly contributed to the realization of the ultra-low distortion DU that we were aiming for. This product uses ``True Diamond'', which manufactures diamond foil by crystallizing diamond on silicon and then melting the silicon.
Diamond has a specific gravity of 3.5—about twice that of beryllium—posing a challenge when paired with film-type edges, which tend to collapse under the weight and exhibit rolling motion. Additionally, conventional edge materials are prone to resonances at specific frequencies, which is another unavoidable issue.
To address these problems, Final developed a new edge using a special polyurethane material. While traditional polyurethane has the drawback of being prone to degradation, this new material overcomes that weakness. It is lightweight yet offers high elasticity and flexibility, successfully resolving the conflicting demands of ease of movement and suppression of unwanted resonance.
