Description

The new Final DX6000 Headphones feature a newly designed dynamic driver unit adopts a high-rigidity, high internal-damping magnesium alloy diaphragm. This minimized unwanted resonance and breakup vibration, ensuring clean and accurate sound reproduction. One of the greatest challenges in this development was designing the edge. Conventional edge materials often introduce resonance in specific frequency ranges. While speaker manufacturers have explored various edge shapes to address this issue, Final took a different path using a specially formulated foamed silicone resin.

The DX6000 achieves natural bass reproduction from a driver compact enough to fit into headphones has long been a major challenge. Traditionally, headphone designs rely on a sealed space between the driver and the listener's ear to enhance acoustic compliance and boost bass response. However, this sealed approach often compromises the openness and natural character of sound.

With Final Audio's newly developed driver, they've successfully lowered its minimum resonant frequency, allowing it to produce rich, full-bodied bass on its own. This advancement paved the way for their Free Air Structure, which seamlessly connects the front and rear of the driver, enabling unrestricted airflow within the ear cups. The result is an astonishingly natural and spacious sound, something rarely achieved in headphone listening.

Final has created a thick yet soft edge that solves the conflicting demands of responsiveness and resonance suppression. The magnesium diaphragm is placed inside the mold, and the foamed silicone is cast around it, forming a seamless structure. This approach eliminates variation from glue application and ensures superior performance across units.

Another common obstacle in dynamic driver performance is the voice coil lead wire being glued directly to the edge. While this prevents disconnection, it creates imbalanced motion in the diaphragm. To maintain accurate piston motion, Final's design suspends the lead wire in air rather than bonding it to the edge. To ensure both durability and acoustic purity, Final uses a proprietary aluminum alloy wire for the voice coil.

Traditionally, open-back headphones suppress excessive treble by increasing the number of voice coil windings, which raises impedance, inductance and mass. However, the added weight from a heavier voice coil negatively impacts the diaphragm's transient response.

To resolve this trade-off, Final Audio developed the Transient-Enhancing Coil, a dedicated coil places in series with the driver. This allows the diaphragm assembly (diaphragm + edge + voice coil) to remain lightweight, while naturally attenuating high-frequency output. The result is a rare balance, an open and natural soundstage, reinforced by rich low-frequency presence and enhanced transient clarity. This is all made possible by a highly responsive, low-mass driver system.

*Due to the implementation of the Transient-Enhancing Coil, the rated impedance is 472 @1kHz, but increases to 4800 at 20kHz. Therefore, Final recommends using a desktop amplifier with sufficient power output rather than portable devices.
