Epson was founded in Japan in 1942 as Daiwa Kogyo Ltd. (Operating as Seiko! Epson Corporation). Seiko was originally involved with the manufacturing and sales of clocks and watches.

In 1975 hey were known for their high quality printers, but not yet for their projectors. Epson's first projector was created 20 years or so later in 1994. The initial Epson ELP-3000 model is an LCD projector and was considered one of the brightest projectors in that small size.

Today, Epson, is the world’s most popular projector manufacturer and offers a wide range of display devices including high quality projectors for home theatre.
