Description
The new LAiV Harmony DAC 2 retains a fully balanced, discrete R2R architecture and adds a discrete Class A output buffer. XLR and RCA outputs can operate concurrently, with low output impedance. The DAC offers three conversion options: Pure NOS, LAiV’s in-house operating system and a dedicated hardware SRC stage, while DSD remains native NOS.
The new LAIV Harmony DAC 2 also features a direct 10MHz master clock input, allowing connection to a reference clock without a DDC. Other changes include full digital isolation, 12V trigger integration, a colour LCD display and USB-C firmware updates. LAiV says an upgrade kit is also planned for existing Harmony DAC owners, bringing selected DAC 2 improvements to the earlier model.
For PCM playback, users can choose between NOS, LAiV’s in-house oversampling mode, and a dedicated hardware sample rate conversion stage. A direct 10 MHz master clock input, full digital isolation, USB-C firmware updates, a colour display, and 12 V trigger input and output enhance usability and system integration.
The new Harmony DAC 2 provides low-noise signal conversion, flexible connectivity, and refined engineering for high-performance audio systems. Its R2R architecture, advanced digital processing, and robust analogue output stage support reliable operation in demanding home hi-fi installations.
Complete digital isolation of the input stage reduces the impact of interference originating from ground loops, the USB connection and connected source devices.
An external reference clock can be connected directly to the 10 MHz master clock input without requiring a separate DDC unit. This provides a simpler signal path in systems that use a shared reference clock.
Thanks to its USB, optical, coaxial and I2S inputs, the Harmony DAC 2 can be connected easily to computers, streamers, CD transports and other digital source devices. The analogue signal is available through both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections, and the two outputs can be used simultaneously.
The 12 V trigger input and output enable synchronised power-on and power-off with compatible system components. Firmware can be updated via the rear USB-C port, while the colour TFT display and included Harmony RCX remote control provide clear and convenient operation.
